Nicola + Corbin (Nusa Lembongan Island Beach Wedding)

November 28, 2018

// Island Beach Wedding at Sandy Bay Nusa Lembongan //

Photographer: Andre

Just a week before their wedding day in Nusa Lembongan Bali, Corbin and Nicola were trapped in Mount Rinjani Lombok Indonesia along with hundreds of trekkers after a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the tourist island. I didn’t know they were in Lombok until I saw their names came up on 9News Australia. I lost contact with them & was extremely worried about them as the whole Lombok was in chaos that time. But thankfully a few days before their D day they contacted me and told me they were safe.

2 days before their wedding, another earthquake happened in Bali & a tsunami warning was issued by the local government. Corbin and Nicola were already in Lembongan but we were still in Bali. We almost couldn’t make it because of the big rising tide of the sea. Luckily the weather calmed down the next day, so we successfully sailed to Lembongan to shoot their wedding. Amazingly their wedding day was blessed with a very beautiful sunny weather! A major contrast from the weather on previous days. As if nothing happened, the wedding was going very smoothly. All those terrifying incidents they experienced before were soon forgotten as everyone was enjoying and really had fun in the party! It was a proof that even the universe was on their side! This made it the most memorable wedding we documented this year.

Jasmin + Farid (Bohemian Beach Elopement)

// Bohemian Balinese Style Beach Elopement in Bali //

Jasmin and Farid met in Paris. The city of love brought them together since then until now they are living in Bali and blessed with two cute kids. They planned a unique and charming elopement to tie the knot. They have a beautiful house with a big garden which they also share with adorable deers as the additional family members. Surrounded by the nature, the mood of the getting ready session at their home was undoubtedly relaxing and easygoing.

The fun continued when they headed towards the location of the ceremony with a vintage volkswagen. They had the chance to snuggle whilst there was a slight drizzle outside on the way. Luckily the sky cleared as they arrived on site. They did their private elopement with Balinese style ceremony by the beach. The bohemian style decoration mixed with soft neutral colour palette with some hints of gold looked so effortlessly beautiful! With white as the main colour, everything looks light, simple and feminine. Their wonderful family played a big part in making their whole special day fun with much happy laughter during the shoot.

While most of the people are competing to throw big scale weddings, Ry took a completely opposite approach for her wedding with Curtis. A modest, private and nontraditional celebration with just the two of them was everything she needed. The day felt special even since the moments of preparation. Ry was doing her own make up, and while I captured those alone moments I couldn’t help to imagine the excitement in her heart. All that mix of happy feelings while getting dolled up to get married to the love of her life. Even the thought of it made my heart flutter.

Before the sunset, we headed to the beach where Ry and Curtis vowed one to another in a heartfelt wedding ceremony. The celebration continued with a romantic private dining in a beach cave. Decorated with lights, the cave looked so beautiful. The sound of the sea in front of them accompanied them and perfected the mood of the night. Their celebration ended with a tender wedding dance by the bonfire.

Private elopements like this have a special place in our hearts. It shows love in the simplest and purest form. It represents the very meaning of marriage itself, which is a sacred union of two people, without the need of showing off or being flashy. And as a photographer it surely is an honor to witness and be a part of such a private celebration of love between them.
