FIRE, WOOD & EARTH

Amy + Kevin (New Zealand)

August 21, 2018

“Raw and Soulful Engagement Portraits in Queenstown New Zealand”

Photographer: Andre

You know the feeling when you meet or talk to certain people for the first time and you just know that they’re your kind of people? That’s the vibe I got from Amy and Kevin! I always believe that one of the most important things in doing my job is the chemistry between me and my couples. Somehow we could tell how comfortable and strong the bond between the photographer and the couples from the captured moments or expressions in the photographs.

This destination pre-wedding shoot to New Zealand with them didn’t feel like a work trip. It was really more like a fun trip that we do with our close friends! There were 4 of us, Amy, Kevin and Amy’s best friend, Shae who joined the trip as well. It’s weird that I instantly felt connected to them like I’ve known them for a long time. Maybe because they came from Australia so I felt more relatable, or maybe because we share the same types of jokes like what I usually do with my wife, I am not sure! They are super easy going, super fun & hilarious people to be around with. I wished my wife had come with me there because I know we would all get along very well together.

Our base is in Queenstown, we shared a lovely airbnb home together. We explored gorgeous places in our list by doing road trips everyday. But of course the highlight was when we hiked to Roy’s Peak in Wanaka. It took us around 5,5 hours return hike and it was so worth the effort. The view at the top was nothing like we’ve seen before, truly magnificent! We were blessed by the beautiful weather most of the time, but there was once when it was stormy and raining, and I was quite bummed because I couldn’t do the shoot I wanted. Funny thing that Amy was the one comforting me instead of the other way around, haha. The rest of the shoot was very enjoyable and relaxing. I guess it’s really true; it’s not where you go but who you travel with that really matters.

Amelia + William (Bali Garden Wedding)

August 11, 2018

// A Dazzling Garden Wedding in Bali //

Photographer: Andre

We have been friends with Amelia since we were still living in Melbourne. She has always been a beautiful, kind and lovely lady even since back then, you can’t not love her persona. And that’s what happened to William as well, he fell in love with Amelia the first time he saw her. Yes, love at the first sight does exist in real life. And apparently not just the two of them who felt that chemistry. Based on their stories, even all the people around them..families and friends, including us, knew that they belong to each other the moment we saw them together. We are amazed by how they fit each other perfectly like puzzle pieces.

We believe that if something’s really meant to be, everything will fall into place nicely..effortlessly..magically. Just like how wonderful their wedding night was. We remember laughing so much while listening to personal stories and funny slideshows about them that their families & best friends shared during the dinner reception. Under thousands of fairy lights, surrounded by beautiful flowers, and filled with wines..everything was just perfect. That night we saw how much they love one another, and how much they are loved by all.

Irna + Matteo

March 14, 2018

“Javanese Traditional Wedding of Mixed Nationalities in Bali”

Photographer: Andre

Irna & Matteo, two free souls who are destined to be together. Irna is from Indonesia, Matteo is from Italy. When you’re around this couple, there’s always so much laughter. They are seriously so fun & carefree. The love of travelling and wanderlust had brought them meet each other in Russia…a foreign land far far away from their home countries. From a casual chat when they were at the Red Square Moscow, they became travel buddies soon after. They also traveled to Kyrgyzstan together and they got more attracted to each other and fell in love since then. Their relationship became more solid as they continued exploring the world together and have many many adventures together.

Matteo proposed 3 times to Irna. The first one was very casual and just a random “Let’s get married” that caught Irna off guard so she replied with “Are you sure?”, Matteo replied “Yeah”, and Irna was like “No, I want a sapphire ring. But yes.”

The second one was on the rooftop with a beautiful sunset view in Bali. This time was a bit more romantic, Matteo asked with a classic “Will you marry me?” in an awkward way and Irna just laughed because it was too funny but she still said “Yes”.

And finally, for the third time Matteo proposed to Irna. This time with a ring in his hand, a sapphire ring that he purposely went to Myanmar to find. Irna told us that she asked for a ring not to be materialistic, but just to test him if he was really being serious, and he really did it. So that third proposal made Irna teared up with happiness.

When we asked what made them decide to get married, the answer is because they just want to live this life together, no other reasons..as simple as that. And I think THAT is the ultimate answer.  Like seriously, what is more beautiful than wanting each other and to be together in life? That simple answer explains everything that really matters in a marriage, I love that.
