Joanne + Wei Kian (Padar Island, Komodo National Park Flores Post-Wedding)

December 11, 2018

// Wondrous Post-Wedding Sessions in Padar Island, Komodo National Park, Flores Indonesia //

Photographer: Andre

When Joanne & Wei Kian got married, they skipped having a big wedding party and chose to celebrate it by doing something they’re passionate about, which is traveling and exploring. Komodo National Park in Indonesia is unquestionably one of the most beautiful gem in the world. Their famously spectacular islands successfully enticed many travelers and adventure junkies from around the world like Joanne & Wei Kian. The raw beauty of the islands is a whole new level. Something you must see and experience yourself.

We did island-hopping during the trip sharing a boat together. We visited Padar island, pink beach and Gili Lawa to do the photo-sessions. We would eat fresh seafood awesomely cooked by the captain of the boat. At night we would chill on the deck of the boat, having drinks and conversations sharing life experiences while stargazing at the wonderful night sky. We also got a chance to see the majestic Komodo dragons which is the icon of the place that can’t be seen anywhere else in the whole world. On the last day, we went for snorkelling session which ended the trip nicely. I just realised that doing island-hopping, sharing moments and living on a boat for a few days together with fellow adventurers could be heartwarming, sentimental and fun altogether. It was definitely a wholesome adventure that highlighted our 2018.

Jasmin + Farid (Bohemian Beach Elopement)

October 31, 2018

// Bohemian Balinese Style Beach Elopement in Bali //

Jasmin and Farid met in Paris. The city of love brought them together since then until now they are living in Bali and blessed with two cute kids. They planned a unique and charming elopement to tie the knot. They have a beautiful house with a big garden which they also share with adorable deers as the additional family members. Surrounded by the nature, the mood of the getting ready session at their home was undoubtedly relaxing and easygoing.

The fun continued when they headed towards the location of the ceremony with a vintage volkswagen. They had the chance to snuggle whilst there was a slight drizzle outside on the way. Luckily the sky cleared as they arrived on site. They did their private elopement with Balinese style ceremony by the beach. The bohemian style decoration mixed with soft neutral colour palette with some hints of gold looked so effortlessly beautiful! With white as the main colour, everything looks light, simple and feminine. Their wonderful family played a big part in making their whole special day fun with much happy laughter during the shoot.

Lia + Adam (Waterfall Vow Renewal Ceremony)

// A Sweet & Extraordinary Waterfall Vow Renewal Ceremony in Bali //

// This session was FEATURED on Wandering Weddings Blog. Click here to see the featured post. //

A decade down, a lifetime to go. Lia and Adam have been married for 10 years and blessed with two beautiful daughters. To celebrate this huge milestone in their marriage, they decided to do a vow renewal ceremony in Bali. They took their renewed wedding vows in front of a magnificent waterfall, under a pretty wooden wedding arch, accompanied by acoustic live music. Their oldest daughter, Asfa, took a big role as the officiant of the ceremony for their parents. What could be more meaningful than that!

Vow renewal ceremony is something that is still uncommon thing to do for many married couples these days. But from this session, we could see how meaningful and as a matter of fact how important it is to do as a way to strengthen the bonds between husbands and wives, especially in this modern days where marriage life could get a little bit tougher. Just like what Lia herself had written up so beautifully in a paragraph, as real as it can be, as we quote below:

“When I married my husband in 2008,  I was young, naive and full of fairy-tale dreams with absolutely no clue as to what real marriage and motherhood entail. Few years later I found myself as a sleep-deprived and overworked mother of two children who are beautiful yet challenging. I no longer looked at my husband as he was my prince charming that I married, and we were forced to deal with layers of lifestyle differences that complicated our lives in so many ways. Marriage no longer looked like a dream, and love became something I had to work towards, everyday especially the days we didn’t want to even see each other’s faces. Over the course of a decade, we went through a roller coaster of emotions and events that could’ve made us quit.
We spent hours talking, compromising and challenging each other’s differences. But in the end, we persevered and found ourselves at a better place as individuals, as a couple and well let just say the parenting struggle will still continue… We are not a “happily ever after couple” or “couple goals”, “we are a work in progress couple” and learning everyday to choose each other over and over again when things are not all rosy. Our 10th year anniversary was a huge accomplishment and milestone for both of us so with the blessings of our children, we took vows to work hard to improve and grow as individuals and to help each other grow in this marriage.”
